On March 28, 2026, the EDGA module “Inclusive Golf Coaching Training” took place at Golf Club Thunersee, Thun, led by Mark Taylor, Head of Instruction & Education of the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA). The aim was to raise awareness among golf coaches about coaching golfers with disabilities and to provide practical approaches for greater inclusion in golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central theme was the realization that golf is inherently inclusive and requires only minimal adjustments to enable people with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities to participate. Taylor emphasized a player-centered coaching philosophy that prioritizes independence, personal responsibility, and individualized solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion also addressed existing barriers such as limited accessibility of facilities, lack of information, and prejudices against golf. At the same time, the significant untapped potential was highlighted: despite approximately 1.8 million people with disabilities in Switzerland, only a small number are currently actively involved in golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key focus was on collaborations with communities such as; rehabilitation centers, physiotherapists, and disability organizations. Initial golf programs are to be deliberately offered to the wider community \u2013 for example, in hospitals or social institutions. The module was supplemented with information on Rule 25 of the Rules of Golf, which officially supports gofers with disability playing the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
